I am continually amazed and shocked by my generation as it is reported to me.. all the hoopla and contradictions can give a youth generation real identity crisis. I am so interested in this topic I am doing my MA thesis on how the Millennials see themselves. I have a survey up if any there are any Millennials out there that want to take account for their generation. Pass it around. Click Here to take survey

thanksGenWhohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05438722818300933672noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2334155273526026017.post-10551334537348824422008-02-17T03:07:00.000-08:002008-02-17T03:07:00.000-08:00Have you considered the possibility that the major...Have you considered the possibility that the majority of millennials come from homes that have been led by single parents or second or third marriages ravaged by separation, divorce, abandonment, or simply children born out of wedlock?

Is it possible that the appeal of a Barack Obama is related to the fact that he can identify with and empathize with those who have been raised in families more dysfunctions than the families that have somehow managed to stay together?

Obviously, part of Bill Clinton's popularity was his ability to "feel" the needs of the electorate. But as you point out, the demographics of 1992 compared to 2008 are dramatically different.

The sweep is coming. I am just not sure that the Baby Boomers are going to handle it very well.

Mark Huey
mhuey@outreachisrael.nethuecryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08752164683007134562noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2334155273526026017.post-32526458385195096072008-02-10T06:18:00.000-08:002008-02-10T06:18:00.000-08:00Interesting take on the generational forces at wor...Interesting take on the generational forces at work…

Of course the film illustration is a bit tenuous. Teens are not speaking for themselves in these films, elder generations are.

I won’t judge these Gen Yers by how the media spins them. Eventually they will speak for themselves in some mass media way – in an Easy Rider or Slackers – but it’s too easy to think that what we’re seeing now is truth. What it is, in fact, is the fears of Xers (like me) and boomers projected back on these kids. We won’t know who they are until they start talking for themselves in a language we can all understand.

Randy Moser
Vanishedmessenger.comRandy Moserhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13564580734365812665noreply@blogger.com
